Tourists Plea For Sunday Business

There are renewed calls for business in Mudgee and other towns in the region to trade on SUNDAYS with renewed interest in our area from tourists.

Our newsroom has heard reports that tourists are leaving the area disappointed on a Sunday with very few cafes open for trade, and limited options for meals.

Mudgee Region Tourism in a message to their members says that they are urging business that is usually closed on Sundays and Mondays, for example, to consider opening on days you are ordinarily closed or extending your opening hours.

Mayor Des Kennedy says that are a region, we have the golden opportunity.

"We're in a position now as a region where we are in the bubble that everyone seems to flock to, which is a telling factor on all our staff".

He also says that we need to look at this now, while NSW residents have limited travel opportunities outside of the State.

"We can't miss this opportunity because who knows how long this will last and we need to take care of our tourists as best we can".
