The Mudgee region will soon have a new magazine, which funding from the Australian Government Stronger Communities Programme assisting in the setup.

Federal Member for Calare, Andrew Gee says that the grant will assist with the purchase of office equipment for the magazine’s production.

The new magazine, touted to be called ‘Mid-Western Mail’ will cover content from across the Mudgee region, including for communities such as Mudgee, Gulgong, Rylstone and Kandos, to name a few, to increase awareness of the key attractions and facilities offered by each community.

“The COVID-19 crisis has really highlighted the need to keep communities and community members connected. This new magazine will certainly do that. Now more than ever, we need our community papers and magazines,” said Mr Gee.

“It’s a fantastic idea to create a magazine that covers the whole area, in order to increase local investment between the neighbouring communities, and from visitors that go in between.

“Cathy Henderson, the editor of the Gulgong Gossip has done a great job in raising awareness of news and events for the Gulgong community, so I can’t wait to see what she does with this new magazine,” said Mr Gee.

Production of the first two issues of the magazine is soon to commence.
