Mudgee’s Iconic Regent Theatre could once again fall under the auctioneer’s hammer, after the company owning the property was placed into Liquidation.

The Federal Court made the orders late last week that THE BLUE DOUGLAS PTY LTD be wound up, appointing O’Brien Palmer as the liquidator.

Its not the first time in recent history that the theatre has been on the market, with the property falling into the hands of the bank in 2019, and was due to go to auction in March this year, however, was cancelled at the 11th hour, with solicitors for the vendor granted a court in junction, preventing the auction going ahead, with the owner later taking back possession.

Non profit organisation, Revive the regent have issued a statement to 2MG news, saying they will continue to advocate for the theatre's protection and restoration, and say that the public interest in The theatre is continually growing and the majority of their members want to see the building become a public asset.

When the listing will take place is not known at this stage.
