The Public comment period has now opened for the new St. Matthews School on Broadhead road in Mudgee.

The Department of Planning, Industry and Environment, says that anyone from the public can now have their say on the proposed new school, before submissions close on June 23.

The proposal for the new school would see the construction of a new secondary campus, expected to educate up to 680 students.

St Matthew’s Catholic School Principal, Mrs Angela Myles, says that the nine hectare site will include a chapel, sporting facilities, a multipurpose hall, state of the art, music, and drama facilities as well as purpose-built spaces for vocational education and training (VET), and dedicated hospitality rooms with café facilities.

Pending approval construction for the new secondary campus is anticipated to commence soon after and take approximately 18 months to two years to complete.
