Testing at the Mudgee COVID Clinic will continue until at least to next few months, after the contract for the clinic we recently extended.

Dr Alex Ghanem told 2MG Breakfast that they are still doing a large number of tests.

"We're seeing about 300 people a week, which may not sound like much, but in the 6 weeks from when we initially started, we had around 1600 swabs".

He says that testing will continue for several months, depending on the next outbreak.

"The Government has extended that contract for the clinics, which will now go until the end of September."

Dr Ghanem also says "We really don't know what will happen beyond this point, but with all of the community transmission, I can't see them telling us to pack up".

Appointments can be made by calling 0417 072 652 or via South Mudgee Surgery

This CLINIC is available 7 days a week.

Meanwhile, the MID-WESTERN region remains COVID FREE with no active cases.

Residents reminded that IF a case if detected in our area, they will be notified by trusted traditional media, such as this Radio station or Western NSW Health, with locals told NOT to trust any random post on Social media, especially on community-based pages.
