The Mudgee Airport will receive more than $308,000 to upgrade and resurface the runway, making it a safer surface for planes to land.

The financial support for the upgrades falls under the Australian Government’s Regional Airports Program.

Member for Calare, Andrew Gee, says it is a positive step in the development of aviation in the region.

"It's a massive job and it needs to be done every 12 years. At the end of the day we have to bridge the divide between the country and city, and one of the best ways we can do that is through the connection of our Airports".

Mr. Gee and Mid-Western Regional Council Mayor, Cr Des Kennedy welcomed the announcement which will help support Australia’s aviation industry through the COVID-19 pandemic.
