Local Rugby League Teams Still Unsure Competition Will Go Ahead

The plans to play a shortened Castlereagh Rugby League competition this year have been dealt a double blow with both the Trangie Magpies and the Gulgong Terriers having now indicated that they will not be participating in 2020.

Castlereagh officials, however, remain hopeful that the remaining seven clubs are still committed to playing in 2020.

They have also asked those clubs for assurance they will have teams, in what will now have to be a totally revamped competition.

The League says that if that assurance is forthcoming then it is likely that a new draw will be done this Sunday at a Castlereagh League General Committee meeting.

Some clubs have already received approval from the NSWRL to return to training in groups of 20 and will commence doing so this week in preparation for the season as restrictions continue to ease.
