Andrew Gee was in the region last Friday, presenting grants to a number of Ilford community groups.

These include the selfless efforts of the volunteer firefighters at the Ilford-Running Stream Rural Fire Service (RFS) with a $5,000 Volunteer Grant from the Australian Government.

The funding will go towards storage, shelves and a television for training local brigades in preparation for future bushfire seasons.

The ladies at the Ilford-Running Stream Country Women’s Association (CWA) will soon be the proud owners of a new laptop, printer and card reader terminal thanks to $1,500 in funding from the Australian Government’s 2019-20 Volunteer Grants program.

Mr Gee said the CWA ladies have played a vital role in our community, especially throughout the devastating bushfires where they provided invaluable support to local families.

A pivotal building in the Ilford and Running Stream communities, the Ilford Hall, will benefit from a $2,500 grant under the Australian Government’s 2019-20 Volunteer Grants program.

The funding will be used to purchase much-needed equipment for the community hall, such as a fridge, bain-marie and vacuum.

Mr Gee saw the need for this equipment during his visits to the Ilford Hall last summer.

“The members of the Ilford Hall Trust are highly active community members who wholeheartedly deserve this funding,” said Mr Gee.

“The Hall is home to many community groups in the Ilford and Running Stream area, so installing kitchen essentials and a vacuum to keep the place in check is an excellent use of the grant funding".
