Call 000 For Emergencies - Not The Fire Brigades

Fire and Rescue NSW are urging people to always call triple zero (000) when reporting a fire or other emergency so that firefighters can adequately respond and potentially save lives.

The request follows a spate of calls in one part of the State that directly followed through to Fire Stations.

FRNSW Acting Deputy Commissioner Rob McNeil says the only number people should use to report fires and other emergencies is triple zero (000) or the response to the incident could be delayed creating greater risk to those affected.

He says that Fire and Rescue has also launched their Get Ready For Winter checklist online and are urging the community to download it and ensure their homes are prepared.

Some advice includes checking your smoke alarms are in working order and pay attention when cooking around appliances.
