Member for Orange, Andrew Gee is reminding eligible businesses, organisations and community groups that they only have until 15 August to bid for funding through the NSW Government 2014-15 Resources for Regions program.
Mr Gee said there is $89.3 million in total funding available this year with organisations in Mid-Western Regional eligible for the funding.
"Time is running out for organisations to submit Expressions of Interest for this year’s Resources for Regions program," Mr Gee said.
"Resources for Regions funding is available for projects that provide physical and social infrastructure to local governments, businesses, non-government groups and community groups in mining affected areas in NSW.
"Eligibility for funding under the latest round of the program has been broadened to include more local government areas (LGAs) than ever before so it’s important to get Expressions of Interest in by 15 August."
Mr Gee said the NSW Government has committed more than $215 million to Resources for Regions over four years to assist mining affected communities, including $16.2 million for the upgrade of Cope and Ulan Roads in the Mid-Western area and $2 million for the upgrade of Mudgee Airport.
"Mining is an important contributor to the NSW economy, but it puts extra pressure on everything from schools to hospitals, roads to recreational facilities and housing to childcare services," Mr Gee said.
"The NSW Government recognises the need to provide tangible support to these communities to help relieve that pressure and ensure long term economic viability."
