Support Given To Maintain Passenger Flights From Mudgee

Mid-Western Regional Council reveals they are working with FlyPelican to ensure the passenger service between Mudgee and Sydney remains operational.

With the aviation industry facing major challenges due to COVID-19 restrictions, council says they will provide financial support to FlyPelican, helping maintain three return flights per week for essential work and medical travel.

Mayor, Des Kennedy says Council recognises the high value of a regular passenger service to and from the region, saying the service is a critical transport link, which is why Councillors unanimously voted in favour of this motion.

The Mayor says FlyPelican has been successfully flying the Mudgee to Sydney route for five years and it would be a major blow to the region to see it lost as has been the case with other airlines recently.

FlyPelican Executive Director, Marty Hawley said flights will continue Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursday.
