A 25-year-old Bathurst Man will again face Dubbo Court, after being caught from a high-speed chase from Bathurst that travelled through our region.

Police say that the incident occurred when Police attempted to stop a Hyundai i30 in William St, Bathurst at 9:30pm Friday night. Officers allege the driver failed to stop, and instead accelerated away. Despite attempts to stop the driver, the vehicle continued into Marsden Lane and then Limekilns Rd, reaching speeds in excess of 170 kmh.

According to Police the Hyundai proceeded through Wattle Flat and then Sofala before reaching the Castlereagh Highway at Ilford. From there the driver turned right and sped off in a southerly direction, again traveling at more than 170 km/h.

Lithgow Highway Patrol officers then joined their Bathurst counterparts and placed road spikes over the Highway at Cullen Bullen as the pursuit approached. This action had the desired effect puncturing 2 of the Hyundai’s tyres, bringing the pursuit to an abrupt end.

Police report the driver abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended a short distance away.

The man was taken to Lithgow Police station, and charged with:

• Drive Recklessly at a Speed Dangerous
• Police Pursuit
• Resist Arrest
• Disqualified Driver
