Police in Gulgong are investigating reports of illegal hunting in the area of Spring Ridge Road over the last few days.

Police say that Spotlights have been seen and gunshots heard in this area, with Police asking anyone who has any information concerning the persons responsible to contact Gulgong Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

State Rural Crime Coordinator, Detective Inspector Cameron Whiteside warns that those responsible for the recent hunting offences in the Gulgong area are risking having vehicles seized and not returned.

This follows a similar arrest where a Coonabarabran man was arrested with charges related to Stealing goats, intimidation, illegal hunting and trespassing and had his vehicle seized.

Rural Crime Investigators attached to Mudgee and Dubbo will be seeking an order for disposal of the vehicle.

Meanwhile, Police from the Rural Crime Prevention Team are currently conducting Operation Ambush targeting illegal hunting on an ongoing basis.

They say that if you detect anyone trespassing and hunting on your property or hunting from a public road please contact your local police immediately or '000' in an emergency.
