Mudgee Community Transport is currently seeking volunteer drivers to assist in providing friendly, personal and caring transport for the frail aged and disabled and their carers, as well as those in the community at a disadvantage because of limited public transport services.
Volunteers drive Council fleet vehicles to various locales; including Mudgee, Dubbo, Orange, Bathurst, Lithgow and Sydney and choose to drive a variety of hours (some choose 1 day a week, others choose 3-4 days a week, and others are just on stand-by for the occasional trip). Volunteers are not out-of-pocket as meal allowances are provided and fuel is paid from funding received through Transport for NSW and other funding bodies.
Without Mudgee Community Transport’s volunteers we would not be able to assist clients maintain their independence and relationships with family members living outside of Mudgee, we would not be able to transport invalid clients to essential medical appointments, and we would not be able to assist locals who are at risk of premature institutionalisation were it not for an affordable community transport service.
If providing an essential community service such as this sounds suitable for you or someone you know, could you kindly direct them to the Carmel Croan Community Centre on the corner of Market and Douro Streets.
